Where: Tokyo Japan
The Keio Plaza Hotel is located west of Shinjuku Station, about a five to ten minute walk away. It's right across the street from the Tokyo Metro Government Buildings. The four star hotel was built back in the 70's and it was the tallest building in Tokyo in it's day.
Misterpiggy stayed here in March 2007 for four nights during his first visit to Tokyo.
The Room: 1258
Room #1258 is located in the South Tower and on the lowest floor of guest rooms. The room is very large by Tokyo standards but the furniture is old and dated. The South Tower rooms are geared towards the tour group class of rooms and as a result don't resemble the nicer North Tower rooms depicted on the hotel's website.
Internet access is free.
The Views
Being on the lowest guest floor meant that the room had an inspiring view of Japanese salarymen working late nights in the office towers across from the hotel.
This is the postcard that Misterpiggy got from the Keio Plaza hotel. The shot is taken of the hotel from the Tokyo Government building ground floor. Notice that the North tower faces the government buildings and the South Tower is just behind it on the right.
The Verdict:
For a first timer to Tokyo, this hotel is a bit of a walk to get to JR Shinjuku Station. If you get the chance, stay in the North Tower where the rooms are much nicer. The South Tower rooms are big though, even if there's not much to look at.
Google Keio Plaza and Tripadvisor hotel for reviews. It's website can be found at http://keioplaza.co.jp.
